Callaway, VA-Things seem to be going the way Jimmy Mullins wants them to at ASA Franklin County Speedway in 2008. Four races into the 2008 campaign shows Mullins is very focused on defending his 2007 track championship. He took his third win in four tries Saturday May 10th.

Rick Sigmon scored his first Family Pharmacy Pole Award in Pro-Line Trailer Sales Late Model Stock Car qualifying. Sigmon started the feature fifth after the ASA mandated redraw. The redraw put Mullins on the pole for the 75-lap feature.

Mullins lead every lap in his Packaging Products, Inc., Mullins Custom Exhaust, Subway, Hedgecock Racing Enterprises, Young Engines Dodge Charger. Mullins had strong challenges from last weeks winner Buster Carroll and Kelly Kingery. Kingery was making his first start of the season at the 3/8ths mile speed plant.

Kingery, from Wirtz, VA, made several charges at Mullins the last fifteen laps but could not muscle his way past the Bassett, VA bullitt. Kingery finished second with Sigmon, Nathan Wheat and Mike Dudley rounding out the top five.

Wayne Wilson took the lead from Tommy Adams, Jr. late in the 30-lap Berglund Automotive Street Stock race and held on for the win. Adams, Jr. and Wilson have both won two races apiece early in the 2008 season. Kyle Dudley, Teddy Lawless and Steven Weeks followed Wilson and Adams, Jr. to the line.

Timmy Hogan hopped in the car usually driven by his son Dakota and took the 30-lap PMZ Group Mod4 feature win. Hogan dominated from the pole position. He was followed to the line by Paul Caldwell, points leader Jonathan Smith, Jamey Hartman in his first race of the season and Jeff Routt.

Bill Lipes took a win in the 30-lap Alan Mullins Automotive UCAR race. Lipes was trailed to the line by Mike Scott, Shannon Pugh, Josh Reeves and Andrew Williams in the top five. Original third place finisher Kirby Shipman did not pass post race tech inspection.

Jerry Scott and Corey Agee were winners in the Southern Vintage Modified and Sportsman races and Kenneth Tuttle took the win in the East Coast Flathead Ford Association race.

The Super Pro Cup Series will invade Franklin County Speedway for the first of two appearances next Saturday May 17th. The Super Pro Cup cars will race for 100-laps. Street Stock, Mod4, UCAR and VA Mini Cups are also on the schedule.
